Discover more from Cartoon Movement
Hello!
It’s the end of the month, so it’s time for a brand new update from the wonderful world of visual satire. If you can’t get enough of political cartoons, sign up for our daily newsletter to receive our editor’s choice cartoon in your inbox each morning.
AI-free media
In our last newsletter, we reported about the open letter against AI replacing artists, cartoonists and illustrators in the media, written by illustrator Molly Crabapple .
Now, Cartoon Movement is joining this campaign with a pledge that our platform will be AI-free; all the content on Cartoon Movement is and will continue to be made by humans. Guaranteed.
We are also calling on other media to join our pledge. To that end, we've designed a logo that media organizations can add to their website to show they are AI-free. Feel free to download and use this logo on your own website.
Upcoming review of the Huion Kamvas 13
We’ve been invited by Huion to review and test their Kamvas 13, a lightweight and portable drawing tablet. We’ll give it a thorough shakedown and see how it stacks up against a Wacom and if it’s a more budget-friendly alternative (provided you already have a good laptop) to an iPad Pro.
Stay tuned, the review will be on our blog in the coming month (and in our next newsletter).
The Nib closes down
If you know Cartoon Movement, chances are you’ll know The Nib, a well-known US platform for political satire and comics. Matt Bors, the founder of The Nib was actually also part of the founding of Cartoon Movement, back in 2010.
This week, Matt came with the sad news that The Nib will be closing down this summer after 10 years of publishing. We are sad to see yet another platform for political cartoons and comics disappear.
